Veteran Horse Society Showing - new classes for 2014 – VHS Showing
As the Veteran Horse Society continues to lead the way in the care and welfare of older horses it will be introducing new classes both in showing and dressage.
The Veteran Horse Society is pleased to announce that from 1st January 2014 all shows relating to the affiliated Veteran Horse Showing and Dressage Series will now be organised and run from their Head Office in Pembrokeshire. These exciting new changes will mean that many more veterans will be able to compete within the showing and dressage classes. All applications from both new and existing shows and Members will be directly dealt with by Head Office.
Julianne spoke from their office this morning, ‘Whilst we appreciate there has been speculation on Society Media Sites over the past few weeks, I would like to confirm that we will be running the Veteran Horse Society Showing and Dressage classes in 2014 and again there will be the Supreme Final. We are also in negotiations with other large venues to hold both summer and winter championships. These will be confirmed at a later date. I would like to thank the previous committee for their work in the past but it is now time for change and to continue to improve and regulate veteran classes.
In 2013 I spoke to so many members who have requested that the Veteran Horse Society go back to the grass roots of showing, our aim is always to provide informative and enjoyable classes for both the Member and all veteran horses. Many would also like to see ex-competition horses, native breeds and other disciplines be introduced within the Show Affiliations. When I launched the Society 14 years ago, it was to promote the care and welfare of older horses. Although I never imagined the showing series would become such a success, the disciplines for the veteran have grown so quickly in popularity it has certainly helped advance the care and welfare of older horses. I would like to personally thank all those who have helped promote the Society over the years and we will continue to work endlessly to improve the life of older horses. Each and every veteran is special from no matter what background or circumstance we welcome them into our classes.’
The Society is now inviting applications from all shows for both Showing and Dressage, along with applications from judges both previous and new.
The Summer and Winter Championship venue will be confirmed at a later date. At present the Society would like to just inform Members and supporters that we will remain the only organisation that holds affiliated veteran classes.

We are in need of any rugs or equipment for the horses this winter. If you are thinking of a winter ‘clearout’ we gratefully receive any goods from rugs to wheel barrows. Also office equipment and any old surplus stationery, we can recycle most items, or we are able to sell these in our small second hand shop, to raise funds for the horses. Thank you
