Veteran Horse Showing Finals

PRESS RELEASE
12th May 2014

Veteran Horse Society Showing Series 2014

As the showing season is now up and running, the Society is receiving a high volume of qualifications and Memberships already for this season and has been contacted by Members and judges alike to separate the Supreme Final. There will now be a Supreme In Hand Final along with a Ridden Final at the National Veteran Championships on 21st September at Bury Farm Equestrian Village.

Each VHS Regional Final or VHS Direct Qualifier will have 4 Supreme Final places available, Champion and Reserve In-Hand and the Champion and Reserve Ridden, will all go forward to the Finals on 21st September. So rather than there just being one Supreme there will now be both an In-hand and Ridden Supreme Championship, and the Champion from each will then go forward to Grand Supreme Final to find the overall 'Veteran Horse or Pony of the Year'.

The Schedule and entry form will be available at the end of May. There is now also over 100 classes along with the Dressage Supreme Finals, so there will be classes there for just about everyone. Dressage also is updating the qualification regulations and introducing new regulations so riders can qualify at Dressage events, affiliated or not.

The VHS Showing and VHS Dressage lists are both updated weekly and we are being approached by so many new venues, which now includes Pony Club events. Some of the Societies supporting the VHS this year are the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association, Retraining of Racehorses, South West Pony Association, CHAPS and Side Saddle Association to name just a few. With so many specialised and general showing classes, we know that the National Championships will be a real special and memorable weekend for everyone.

Should you have any questions that are not answered on this site or would like to discuss any aspect of the Veteran Horse, please call our office or out of office mobile. A Member of staff will be happy to chat through any experiences you may be having or give help and advice on your older horse.

This is what makes the charity and Membership Society so unique. A percentage of membership helps horses like 'Claire', whether it is advice or an urgent rescue the VHS and VHW is always there to help.

"Several weeks ago, having been on a forum regarding older horses (sorry can't remember what it was), it advised that I could get good advice from yourselves. I didn't know your opening hours but spoke to the most charming and helpful lady (I know it was after you close), who was doing something to help your cause (again can't now remember exactly what she was doing). She advised me to contact/get information regarding a product you had been trialling for a month, (Fast Fibre and Veteran Vitality) by a company Alan and Page - well I just can't thank you enough for her good advice, because within a 3 week period my cob has been transformed from an RSPCA job into the animal she was ten years ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you. . Your lady was SO lovely and so jolly. Thank you all for doing an amazing job. Love to you all, kind, caring people. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

We are in need of any rugs or equipment for the horses. If you are thinking of a ‘clearout’ we gratefully receive any goods from rugs to wheel barrows. Also office equipment and any old surplus stationery, we can recycle most items, or we are able to sell these in our small second hand shop, to raise funds for the horses. Thank you
