VHS CHLOE

Spring 2008
Chloe has now moved down to the bottom yard and she is loving her new stable,
though still as dirty as ever. Although she is in an open barn with the other
horses it is isolated enough for her to have her own space. Chloe is still kept
on restricted grazing on the top fields, she is looking really good this year
and has a lovely bright summer coat coming through. Megan who came to the centre
in Summer has taken a liking to Chloe and although she gets bossed around a
bit I think she occasionally likes the company. She is still on a high fibre,
low protein diet due to her Cushing’s disease.
1 Fibergy
1⁄2 Pasture nuts
Supplements
Garlic
Echinacea
Angus Tincture
Surefoot
Grande Meadows Complete

Chloe Winter – Spring 2007
Having lost Jim Bob, we needed a pony to keep Timmy
company over the winter months, so it was decided that Jim’s stable was
quiet and other horses could not lean into her stable which she hated, she also
had cushings like Timmy, which makes them aggressive to other horses around
food, so it seemed an ideal solution for Timmy.
Chloe has thrived on being on the top yard and
is unable to take any ones spilt food from over another stable door.
Her diet remains very high fibre and is fed Angus tincture for her cushings.
She has had constant restricted grazing all year and for the first time in 3
years she is able to be turned out during the evening.
Her diet consists of
2lb Fibregy
1lb of Pasture Nuts
Angus Tincture
Sure foot
Garlic
Echinacea
Chloe now is turned out with the twins in the restriction
and it is lovely for her to be able to be turned out 24/7

PAST HISTORY
Chloe: 13.2hh Connemara X. Date of Birth: 1988 Bay mare.
Chloe. 13.2hh. Mare.
Chloe has been with the society since Winter 2004. She is prone to laminitis
and abscesses and therefore spends most of her time tree roaming the large Dutch
barn. She adores her play ball twice a day and tolerates the other horses,
but is much more a peoples pony.
Chloe is available for rehoming, but is unable to graze during the winter as
the wet ground does not suit her, so the home has to one that can adapt to her
needs. Her diet needs to be fiber based only with no concentrates.
She is a very loving little mare and we hope to be able to once again hack her
out.

Summer 2006
Chloe is very well
and despite not being turned out for over 6 months, she is now allowed 4 hours
in the restriction paddock. Sometimes though she just wants to stay in with
her much loved playball.
She had just one abscess scare over the past 6 months and this was caught in
its very early stages.
As Chloe is suffering from cushings we have to be very careful of her feed but
also her turnout routine as ponies are often very aggressive towards other horses
if they have food. When she becomes very loving and gentle we know she maybe
sickening for an abscess.

Routine
Chloe’s routine
is very much dependent on the weather and grass growth. When the weather is
dry and warm and the restriction paddock is grazed down, she is able to go out.
When it is wet or the grass is growing rapidly or the fields are muddy she then
is able to walk around the barn and the padded grazing, which is a small paddock
at the back of the barn which is padded with wood chip, ideal for laminitics.
Feed
Chloe is on the same feed winter and summer
4 lb Fibregy
1lb Pasture NUTS
Hilton Herbs Angus Tincture
15ml Garlic
25ml surefoot.
We add a little water
to soften it for her as she has good teeth, she is fed this twice a day.
A play ball 4 times a day, which has 2 lb of Pasture NUTS in.
Chloe also has been testing our mirrors and seems to have calmed her aggression
around food. We often find her talking to herself in the mornings.
