VHS MISTY

Spring 2008

Misty is another pony at the centre that has had to cope with the loss of his best friend. Fifi and Misty were known to the people who worked with them like being a married couple. Misty was unsure what to do with himself for a while and became quiet and subdued. Lots of fuss and the comfort of his duvet seems to have got him through his little tough patch. Although he spends most of his time on his own now he seems content enough grazing in the field and tucks into his tea and hay replacer on an evening. Misty struggled to keep himself warm during the winter and was given a duvet (donations always appreciated) to go underneath his rug to keep him warm. He fell in love with his duvet and a change in his temperament was obvious; he became much more loving. He also wears thick wraps on his back legs and thermatex bandages on his fronts. Due to Misty’s knees been fused he cannot bend them at all so his bandages go right up over his knees like stockings. With his lack of teeth at the back and his tendency to bolt his feed, he still has his feed very sloppy.

Spring 2007
Weight 263 kg
Misty has been very well this winter and is still very best friends with Fifi. He is now out during the dry evenings but still has to come in when
it becomes wet and cold. He had a very mild bout of colic earlier in the winter, so now his feed has to be even wetter than usual, almost drinking
it. He finds being over faced with feed very off putting so it is very little and often for Misty, sometimes up to 4 feeds per day.

His feed going into summer
1lb barley
2lb wet sugar beet
1lb 16+ cubes
1lb pasture nuts.

Supplements include Cortaflex, Soya Oil and b sure.

Thank you for visiting Misty.
