VHS VERITY

Spring 2008
So many horses have passed away this winter, or it seems so many. And Verity
too lost her companion, Poppit, this Winter. She was quite lost for a long time
without her, although she always pretended Poppit was a tag along she must have
thought a lot more of her. She was at the time stabled on the top yard with
her friend, following her loss she became quiet and withdrawn, lost her fizz
that being an arab she undoubtedly had.
We tried to pair her with Beloved
who was grieving the loss of Sylvia but neither were interested. Luckily Jasper
came in just in time and they immediately took to each other. Very similar in
character they both enjoy flying around the field with her tail stuck high in
the air. She has moved down to the bottom yard to live next door to Jasper where
she is very happy.
She is very picky with her food at
the moment but currently she is fed on:
1 Build up
1⁄2 16+
1⁄2 Barley
Supplements
Garlic
Grande complete
14.2hh
Arab
Weight: 394 kg
DOB: 1974
Verity was taken into the care of the RSPCA in late 2006, due to her owners
terminal illness, in March 2007 the VHS was conacted to take her into their
care. The RSPCA did not have the room for Verity and felt she was a little too
old rehome at 33, so the Society agreed to helping them and she was admitted
to the Centre in Pembrokeshire.
Her weight increases and despite having poor teeth, she thrives on the grazing
and feeding. She is a very ‘itchy’ mare and loves a morning scratch
in the woods, she is companion to Tony and new arrival Poppit.
Her diet to start with was Build Up, 16+ Cubes and sugar beet, she now is on
a much lower protein feed with very good grazing.
